On Saturday, October 3, our Spokane community has another opportunity to put gratitude into action.
The Veterans Stand Down has moved to Numerica Credit Union Arena, 720 W. Mallon Avenue, Spokane, WA 99201, and will be open from 10:00 AM–3:00 PM.
A Stand Down is more than an event. It is a place for Veterans to connect with resources, receive practical assistance, share a meal, and—just as importantly—be welcomed by a community that remembers that service does not end when the uniform comes off.
❤️ Volunteers are needed!
Volunteers are asked to arrive between 8:30–9:00 AM and may stay for as much of the day as they are able. Volunteers will help with vendor load-in and load-out, Veteran registration and directions, distribution of surplus items, lunch service, and general support throughout the event.
This year, Numerica Credit Union Arena staff will handle the cleaning and breakdown, making it easier for volunteers to concentrate on what matters most: our Veterans and one another.
I have long believed that Veteran suicide prevention cannot belong to one agency, one profession, or one political party. It belongs to all of us. Sometimes prevention looks like a crisis intervention. Sometimes it looks like helping somebody find housing, food, benefits, healthcare, friendship—or simply a person willing to listen.
Release the Magazine. Lock the Slide. Eliminate Veteran Death by Suicide. 🇺🇸
Come serve. Come connect. Come remind a Veteran that there is still a place for them in the village.
